In this exciting and challenging two-year program, junior and senior high school students will learn the skills required in a variety of emergency fire science service occupations which include Emergency Medical Training, as well as how to respond to hazardous materials situations. All students are issued regulation fire-fighting protective clothing and will work with authentic fire-fighting equipment. The CAVIT Fire Science program provides a variety of classroom instruction, techology, field trips and practical application drills. Students successfully completing the program will obtain fire science certification and college credits.

  • $75.00

Prerequisites:

  • 2.5 GPA
  • One credit in Biology or Anatomy/Physiology
  • No criminal record
  • 90% attendance


We have designed this program for students to be able to complete in two years. CAVIT will award a certificate of completion to students who successfully complete the two year program.



Through a Tech Prep articulation agreement with Central Arizona College, students in the second fire science class are eligible to earn free college credit. The college defines entrance requirements, which must be met before the college will grant credit. Students are responsible for meeting those requirements and completing a separate college admission process.
