Approved 3.2 Excellent Level Projects

Congratulations to the following teachers who have planned ambitious work-based learning events as part of CAVIT's Quality Program Excellent Level system. Students will conduct approved projects in collaboration with advisory members who will give advice on creating the activity, assist in the implementation phase and evaluate students on their final work. All activity must be completed by December 9, 2016.

CAVIT Are You Ready?

  • Teacher: Karen Chamberlain, Nursing Assistant
  • Event Description: Students will prepare a first aid and emergency presentation delivered to area elementary students.

CAVIT Tooth Time Teachings

  • Teacher: Maureen Williams, Dental Assistant
  • Event Description: Students will create a dental education presentation to area elementary students.

CAVIT Sports Injury Prevention

  • Teacher: Ben Barth, Massage Therapy
  • Event Description: Students will research sports related injuries and create a multi-faceted presentation to junior high students.

CAVIT Storybook Characters Hair Show

  • Teacher: Jessica Brooks and Elizabeth Turner, Cosmetology
  • Event Description: Students will research storybook characters and create hair, makeup, and clothing designs on live models highlighted in a hair show. 

CAVIT Creating A Better You 

  • Teacher: Tiffany Brown, Medical Assistant
  • Event Description: Students will create a lesson the healthy behaviors and personal health and deliver the presentation to 6-8th grade students.

CAVIT Code Red Camp

  • Teachers: John Ewing and Andrew Hensley, Fire Science
  • Event Description: Students will create a fire safety camp for K-6th grade students where students will learn several safety messages. 

CAVIT Run, Fight, and Hide Training 

  • Teacher: Devon McLaws, Law Enforcement
  • Event Description: Students will lead and deliver a lesson on workplace violence and offer community businesses the opportunity to sign up for this training.

CAVIT Healthy Living 

  • Teacher: Jeff Wooley, Medical Assistant
  • Event Description: Students will create various healthy lifestyle stations and offer up the training to area 2nd grade students in a round-robin format.

CGUHS Cooperative Agriculture

  • Teacher: Brittnie England - Agriculture
  • Event Description: Students will create and deliver greenhouse operations, hydroponic, and vegetable lessons to children. 

CGUHS Water Sampling

  • Teachers: Erynn Dunn, Bioscience
  • Event Description: Students will collect and analyze water samples from storm runoff.

CHS Haunted House 

  • Teacher: Corianna Lee, Theater Arts
  • Event Description: Students will plan, design and build out a haunted house. 

CHS Ag Literacy - From Farm to Table

  • Teacher: Jadee Rohner and Elizabth Skornik, Agriculture
  • Event Description: Students will create booths at a community event which showcase how products get from farm and/or ranches onto consumer's dinner tables.

CHS Healthy Holiday Dinner

  • Teacher: Nighly Gillispie and Cassandra Yeo, Culinary Arts
  • Event Description: Students will recreate holiday favorites using safety, sanitation and advanced cooking techniques. 

MHS Shark Tank

  • Teacher: Bernadette Russoniello, Marketing 
  • Event Description: Students will replicate the television show offering community residents the opportunity to participate in product design pitches.

MHS Copper Sky Outreach

  • Teacher: Joby Thompson, Multimedia
  • Event Description: Students will design graphic advertising materials for a community event. 

VGHS Baking for Angels

  • Teacher: Kimberly Rains, Culinary Arts
  • Event Description: Students will be hosting community bake sale events throughout the holiday season to support a local non-profit agency.

VGHS Haunted House Tours

  • Teacher: Kathy Harding, Theater Arts
  • Event Description: Students will plan and execute holiday haunted house tours for the community to attend.
